Michelle Matthews

Manual Osteopath (RMO), CrossFit Level 2 Coach, Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach (PPA), Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice

Michelle Matthews works from the principle that where you feel pain is rarely where it actually begins. As a manual osteopath, she assesses the body as a connected system — tracing how jaw tension can ripple into neck pain and posture, how hip discomfort can originate in foot mechanics, how a restricted rib cage can affect the way someone breathes. Her work focuses on the “why” behind your discomfort rather than just treating the symptoms that brought you to an appointment.

A session with Michelle is calm with soft amber lighting and indie folk music but it’s her intuitive, attentive presence that you feel most. Using a blend of gentle tissue work, joint mobilization, and nervous system-focused techniques, she lets your body’s response dictate the pace and pressure of the session. While she enjoys working with anyone seeking relief, she has a particular interest in clients navigating pre- and post-frenectomy care, and loves working with athletes whose bodies are under consistent physical demand. Michelle’s curiosity about the body is matched only by her genuine care for the people in front of her. She looks at the full picture and asks questions about old injuries, stress patterns, and the habits that shape how you move and feel. Her goal is for you to leave with physical relief and with a better understanding of how your own body works.

Michelle finds joy in staying physically active and connecting with her community and family. With her background as a spin instructor, CrossFit coach & kinesiology, she brings a unique perspective to her osteopathic practice, integrating movement-based approaches with osteopathic techniques. Movement is a big part of her life and she wants to help you stay in movement as best you can for as long as you can, too.

Who is Michelle outside of the clinic?

Michelle finds balance through a mix of high-energy movement and quiet, creative rituals. You’ll often find her at CrossFit, on a yoga mat, or kayaking and biking during the warmer months. At home, she is an avid reader and an experimental cook, often found making fresh bread for friends or testing out new ingredients. A self-proclaimed cat person (with two she’s slightly obsessed with), Michelle is also a dedicated collector of coffee cups and a fan of the Winnipeg Folk Fest lineup—usually with Lucy Dacus playing in her headphones.

Why work with Michelle?

If you’re someone who has tried to address a symptom and kept hitting a wall, Michelle’s whole-body approach might be exactly what you need.
